Review Integrity Policy

    Last updated: June 2, 2026

Reviews are the core of TrustMyBiz. This policy explains who can write reviews, how we detect and remove fake ones, how businesses can dispute reviews they believe are unfair, and how we handle our own conflicts of interest.

    1. Who can write a review

    • You must be a registered user with a verified email address.
    • Your review must reflect a genuine, first-hand experience with the business — as a customer, supplier, partner, employee, or visitor.
    • You must disclose the nature of your interaction (e.g. "I hired this firm in March 2026" or "I am a former employee").

    2. Who cannot write a review

    • Owners, founders, directors, employees, or contractors of the business being reviewed (positive self-reviews).
    • Direct competitors of the business (negative competitor reviews).
    • Anyone paid, gifted, or otherwise incentivised by the business or by a competitor to post a review.
    • Friends or family of the owner posting on the owner's behalf.
    • Automated accounts, bots, or anyone using multiple accounts to manipulate ratings.

    3. What a review must not contain

    • False statements of fact.
    • Personal attacks, hate speech, threats, or harassment of identifiable individuals.
    • Confidential information, trade secrets, or personal data of third parties.
    • Defamatory statements that the reviewer cannot reasonably substantiate.
    • Promotional content, affiliate links, or off-topic marketing.
    • Content that violates any law of India.

We do allow strongly critical reviews — including 1-star ratings — provided they describe a genuine experience and are written in good faith.

    4. How we detect fake reviews

We use a combination of automated signals and human moderation:

    • Account-level signals — account age, email-domain reputation, prior review history, profile completeness.
    • Behavioural signals — posting velocity, time-of-day patterns, IP and device fingerprints, geo-anomalies.
    • Content signals — language analysis (templated phrasing, duplicate text across reviews), sentiment-pattern anomalies, unusual rating distributions.
    • Network signals — clusters of accounts created from the same IP, device, or email pattern that review the same business.
    • Human review — every flagged review (by the system or by another user) is manually reviewed by a TrustMyBiz moderator within 7 working days.

When a review is removed for policy violation, the reviewer is notified by email with the specific policy clause cited. Repeat offenders have their accounts suspended.

    5. How businesses can dispute a review

    1. Click the Report button on the review.
    2. Select the policy clause you believe is violated and provide supporting evidence.
    3. An independent moderator (not the one who originally approved the review) reviews the dispute within 7 working days.
    4. Both reviewer and business are notified of the outcome.
    5. If you disagree with the outcome, you may escalate to our Grievance Officer (see Privacy Policy §14) within 14 days. The Grievance Officer's decision is final within the Platform.

Genuine, lawful negative reviews are not removed simply because the business disagrees with them. We encourage business owners to use the Public Reply feature to respond to criticism.

    6. Right of reply

Verified business owners can post one public reply per review. Replies must comply with the same content rules above. We do not edit replies but may remove them if they violate this policy.

    7. Incentivised & solicited reviews

    • Asking existing customers to write a review is permitted — provided the request is neutral ("please share your experience"), not conditional on a positive rating.
    • Offering discounts, freebies, cashbacks, gift cards, or any other consideration in exchange for a review is strictly prohibited.
    • Reviews collected through gated review-collection tools that filter out negative responses ("review gating") are prohibited.

    8. Conflict of interest — operator-affiliated listings

TrustMyBiz is operated by BRC Web. Some businesses listed on the Platform are owned by, founded by, or commercially affiliated with BRC Web. To maintain transparency:

    • Every affiliated listing carries a visible "Operator-affiliated" disclosure badge on its profile page.
    • Affiliated listings receive no preferential ranking, no boosted visibility, and no exemption from this policy.
    • Reviews on affiliated listings are moderated by an independent moderator who is not an employee of BRC Web.
    • The current list of operator-affiliated businesses: BRC Web.

    9. Transparency reports

From January 2027 onwards, we will publish a quarterly transparency report showing: total reviews received, reviews removed by policy clause, dispute volume, and average resolution time.

    10. Contact

To report a review or appeal a moderation decision, email contact@brcwebhelper.in with the subject line "Review Integrity".
