How We Built a Budget-Friendly LMS for Harvinn Technologies — A BRC Web Case Study

When Harvinn Technologies came to us, they had a clear vision but a familiar problem — they were running a fast-growing internships and training business with 4,000+ students, 2,000+ internships completed, and 500+ mentors, all glued together with WhatsApp groups, Google Drive folders and a couple of overworked spreadsheets. They didn't need an enterprise platform that costs ₹15–25 lakhs a year. They needed a clean, branded, budget-friendly Learning Management System that actually fits the way an Indian EdTech runs in 2025. So we built one — together.
Who is Harvinn Technologies?
Harvinn Technologies is a Future-of-Learning brand offering hands-on internships and career-boosting training programs. Their tagline says it best — Live Projects · Mentors · Recognized Certificates · Career Support. A few numbers from their site that show the scale we were designing for:
• 4,000+ students trained • 2,000+ internships completed • 100% certification support • 200+ companies connected • 500+ industry mentors (Salesforce, Oracle, Infosys, HCL, Microsoft, L&T, Mahindra, NTPC, Reliance, Sun Pharma)

Step 1 — Discovery: figuring out what they actually needed

Before writing a single line of code, our team at BRC Web sat down with the Harvinn founders for two long discovery calls. Most LMS vendors throw a 200-feature demo at you and bill accordingly. We did the opposite — we asked what they would actually use in the next 12 months.
After two workshops, the must-have list looked like this: • Course catalogue with categories (Internships, Bootcamps, Short Courses) • Video lessons with progress tracking • Quizzes & assignments per module • Auto-generated certificates with verifiable QR codes • Mentor profiles + 1:1 booking • Razorpay & Paytm payments in INR (with GST invoices) • Coupon codes & referral discounts • Brochure downloads & lead capture • Admin dashboard with revenue, enrolments and drop-off analytics • Mobile-first UI (90% of their traffic is mobile)
We told them what they didn't need just as clearly as what they did. That alone saved roughly 40% of the budget.
Step 2 — The pricing problem we had to solve
Off-the-shelf LMS platforms in India typically cost: • Moodle Cloud / TalentLMS: ₹40,000 – ₹1,20,000 per year + per-student fees • Thinkific / Teachable: $49–$199/month + transaction fees in USD • Custom enterprise builds: ₹8–25 lakhs upfront For a growing EdTech that's already reinvesting every rupee into mentors and content, none of those numbers worked. So we proposed a one-time build with full source-code ownership at a fraction of those numbers — and structured the payment in three milestones so cash-flow stayed healthy.
Step 3 — Building it (without the bloat)

We made deliberate engineering choices to keep the cost down without cutting corners on quality: • React + Vite frontend — fast, SEO-friendly, easy to skin for any brand • Supabase backend — Postgres + Auth + Storage in one, no separate DB hosting bills • Razorpay + Paytm split-payment integration — students pay in INR, instant settlement • Cloudflare CDN + R2 storage for video — pennies per GB instead of expensive SaaS video hosts • Role-based access — Student, Mentor, Admin, Super-admin • Clean component library so future pages take hours, not weeks
End result: an LMS that loads in under 2 seconds on a 4G phone, handles thousands of concurrent learners, and costs Harvinn roughly the same per month as their old WhatsApp-Business + Drive setup — but actually scales.
Step 4 — What's inside the LMS we shipped
The final platform that powers harvinntechnologies.com today includes: 📚 Course management — drag-and-drop curriculum builder, video lessons, downloadable resources, prerequisites 🎓 Student portal — personal dashboard, progress %, upcoming live sessions, certificate wallet 👨🏫 Mentor module — public mentor profiles, calendar booking, 1:1 video session links, mentor payouts 📝 Quizzes & assignments — auto-graded MCQs, manual review for projects, plagiarism flags 🏆 Certificates — auto-generated PDF with unique verification URL + QR 💳 Payments — Razorpay, Paytm, UPI, EMI on cards, automatic GST invoices 🎟 Coupons & referrals — discount codes, referral wallet credits, affiliate tracking 📊 Admin analytics — revenue, top courses, drop-off points, mentor ratings, lead-to-enrolment funnel 🔔 Notifications — Email + WhatsApp Business API for enrolment, reminders, certificates 📱 Fully mobile-responsive — designed mobile-first because that's where students actually learn
The result
Within 90 days of going live, the Harvinn team reported: • 3.2× faster checkout completion (from cart to paid student) • 60% drop in support tickets — students could now self-serve receipts, certificates and re-watch lessons • Time saved on admin work: roughly 25 hours a week across the founding team • Brand consistency — every page, email and certificate now carries the Harvinn purple identity • Ready-to-scale architecture — adding a new course type or batch takes minutes, not days
